When we traveled to Disney World in Orlando in early November 2021, I learned a few strange things. Even though I have traveled to Disney many times, there is always something new to learn or experience!
- Did you know that the People Mover is a water ride? Well neither did I, until we rode it in the rain. You might think the ride is completely covered, but you are subject to a few waterfalls along the way so bring your umbrella.
- Some souvenirs are only available on site at Disney! My mom passed up a holiday themed Disney snack lounge fly mini backpack. Luckily for her, I have a local friend at my travel agency who graciously offered to go to Disney Springs and ship her one! Let this be a lesson learned – if you see something you like, don’t assume you’ll see it somewhere else (or that you can buy it online when you get home).
- Johnny Depp has been cancelled from Pirates of the Caribbean ride. All the animatronics that were made to look like him have been somehow “edited” and now just look like an average pirate.
- The Carousel of Progress has now been deemed skippable by the Yenawine family and Peter Pan’s Flight takes the top spot.
- Visit the family history desk in the UK in Epcot to learn about your family!
- BUT DO NOT TAKE A PICTURE OF THE SCREEN. You WILL be scolded.
- Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway finally has it’s full pre-show after originally opening during COVID, including (spoiler alert) an exploding screen!
- Jungle Cruise has a holiday overlay! Traditionally, overlays were only on rides at Disneyland, but around Christmas you can now ride the Jingle Cruise complete with holiday puns!
- If you want some maps to bring home for souvenirs, make sure you get one in english. We picked up several….in every language BUT english.
